Support the Denver Internet Initiative

Good Morning Everyone,

Its been a few months since I have been on here. Since then, I have been focusing on both cycling and one of the first things that got me into politics: Internet issues.

During the second Bush administration, I got involved in the push for the concept of Net Neutrality, the idea that internet service providers must treat all internet communications equally. Since the beginning of the internet, there have been monopolies, with the City of Denver having 2 major monopolies that often provide subpar service that damages communities that cannot afford them.

However, cities have a chance to reverse this damage, including Denver this November.

The Denver Internet Initiative’s mission is is to ensure that all Denver residents have access to the Internet so that they can participate and thrive in the 21st century. Since the beginning of a pandemic that has forced people from all backgrounds online, the inequities in internet access have been intensified, with 20% of Denver residents not having access to high speed internet.

The initiative will allow Denver to opt out of a Colorado state law passed in the mid 2000’s that prohibits cities from building out their own infrastructure. This will allow us to begin the process of providing internet for all. To donate to the initiative, check out this link.
